PUFFIN EXPRESS

ORKNEY GATEWAY

The Orkney archipelago lies just a few miles off the north coast of the mainland of Scotland. The islands are famous for, i.a., their density of prehistoric remains and links with both World Wars.

2008 sees us offering our biggest ever variety of trips to Orkney. We appreciate the range may be a bit confusing! This summary is to help you find the trip most suitable for you.

All our Orkney tours leave from Inverness. Click on this link to show the relationship of Inverness to Orkney, and on this link to show the main ferry routes to Orkney. Please visit our calendar for a complete list of dates these various tours operate.

The prehistoric and wartime sites of Orkney do not exist in isolation; they are part of a continuum of such features in the north of Scotland. Our trips are unusual in that they empasize this continuum, pointing out many prehistoric features on the drive from Inverness to the north coast, and, in the case of the trips in the left column below, visiting at least one of them.
